TAM/CMC Relationship Restructured
|
Texas collections managers, registrars and professionals in related fields come together in the Collection Managers Committee to learn and promote the highest standards in their field, to network together, and to cooperate in creating the highest quality collections care for Texas museums.
|
In 1988, a small group of professionals involved in collections management felt they needed a voice on the Texas Association of Museums’ board and felt they had the people and resources to provide professional development to their colleagues. Organized and ready to move forward, traits of all good collection managers, the founding five Collection Managers Committee (CMC) board members set forward in 1988 to establish the CMC as an affinity group of the Texas Association of Museums (TAM). With the new by-laws in hand approved by the TAM board in August 1988, CMC members approved the by-laws making them an official affinity group of TAM at the 1989 meeting in Beaumont, Texas.

In 2011, the way members join CMC was changed. CMC Members now pay for CMC membership when they pay for their TAM membership. As a reminder, all CMC members must be members of TAM. Memberships will not be taken directly by the CMC. In addition, the cost of membership has changed. Membership in any affinity group is $10 per group.
Other policies and procedures for governance and accounting are still being determined. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding the new relationship between the CMC and the TAM, please contact CMC Chair Angela Pfeiffer, CMC Vice-Chair Evelyn Montgomery or anyone on the Board and we will be happy to assist you or pass your feedback on to the TAM office. Officers’ contact information can be found on the Officers page. |
